First thing this morning I dump chicken and barbeque sauce in the crockpot.
I get online and go to my insurance’s website. It’s open enrollment time. Oh boy. What fun. I hate reading insurance decision guides. After an hour of wading through it, I choose to keep my present benefit plan. Boring. Glad that’s done.
Hey, I should call the post office about my Amazon order.
I love it when an Amazon order arrives! The crew and I motor on down to the Truth or Consequences post office. I show the postal clerk lady my identification. She disappears to the back and returns with four big boxes. I load up the PTV and drive us right back to the campground.
The big box is the 9′ x 12′ patio rug. I unfold it. It’s blue . . . very blue.
Everything else is here: the 12v Endless Breeze fan, the Wave 3 heater, the heater installation kit, and the Wave 3 cover. Oh, darnit! The cover is black! I ordered white. I’ll have to send it back. Sorry, but I’m not putting a black cover on the heater. The heater’s going to be mounted on white fiberglass. Black is not acceptable.
Oh, I’ve got to schedule the installation!
I ring up Chip and listen to a recorded message, “. . . Chip is out of town and will not return until Wednesday . . . .” What? Wednesday? Later another camper tells me that Chip is hunting elk over near Pie Town (west-central New Mexico). It seems that everyone at the campground knows Chip.
I’m not going to stay at Elephant Butte any longer waiting for Chip.
I told Chuck and Geri I’d meet them over in Chloride on Sunday. They’re camping there with Emily. My tentative plan is to go to Lake Caballo State Park on Monday. When I can schedule Chip, I’ll come back to Elephant Butte. Caballo is not far from here, about 16 miles south.
The crew meets new canine campers every day.
Time for supper!
I stack up a big, dripping, barbeque chicken sandwich. It’s delicious! Spike and Bridget hover with pleading eyes. I can’t turn them away. They’ve been waiting for their share all day!
