Bridget is a big baby.
I first see Bridget at the pound. She’s a cute little puppy, a mini-Spike. I take her out of the cage and she runs out into the lobby, behind the welcome desk, and into the office area. A nanosecond later she comes flying out and zooms down another hallway. I manage to grab her on the third lap, kicking and flailing about like a maniac (her, not me).
That should have given me a clue.
She grows into exactly the kind of dog I swore I’d never have: high-strung, uncooperative, yappy, and fat. Which describes me at times, so I have to love her. She’s probably a mix of rat terrier and chihuahua and who knows what else. She’s definitely a big baby. She howls at the ceiling whenever I leave.
Bridget thinks Spike is her dad.
She lets him clean her ears and teeth before bed and generally takes her orders from him. She’s prone to skin problems in hot weather and more information than you ever want to know alert!!!! she tends to get these growths, usually around her anus, that have to be surgically removed and are really gross if allowed to get too big.
I have a rat terrier/chihuahua pound puppy too! She was 5-7 years old when we adopted her a year-and-a-half ago. Doris just needed a second chance, a loving home, and a dental plan. She’s very quiet but has the courage of a lion.
Yay Bridget! Yay Doris!
Bridget has no courage. She shows her teeth and curls your hair with her bark, but this is all done in the safety of the bedroom, while Spike is outside confronting coyotes in the dark.
Despite all her issues she is a cutie and I bet she is sweet. That is cute that she thinks Spike is her dad. Hugs and nose kisses Bridget!
ain’t they adorable,you got twodorables
Oh gosh they are so cute. I love dogs like that …with attitudes!!!
“You can say any fool thing to a dog, and the dog will give you this look that says, ‘My God, you’re RIGHT! I NEVER would’ve thought of that!’”

I love Bridget and Spike.
